CECAR Asia Workshop Launch in Indonesia

CECAR-ASIA project, funded by Ministry of Environment Japan, started on April 2011 with the University of Tokyo and Research Institute for Human and Nature (RIHN). UNU-ISP focuses on “Strategies to enhance resilience to climate and ecosystem changes utilizing traditional bio-production systems in rural Asia” as a sub-theme. The project is conducted in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Vietnam with the cooperation of Gadjah Mada University, University of Peradeniya and Vietnam National University.


Symposium on the Great East Japan Tsunami and Warning Systems: Policy Perspectives

The Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on 11 March 2011 caused nearly 20,000 people to lose their lives. Major damage and destruction occurred to buildings and infrastructure in the coastal zone that was flooded, with large societal impacts and social and economic consequences.
