Launching of the ISDR 2013 Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction Forum

The UNU and UNISDR Secretariat are pleased to announce the Launching of the ISDR 2013 Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction Forum on 5th June (14:00 – 16:00) at the United Nations University in Tokyo. (Please see attached the flyer.) The Global Assessment Report on DRR (English) 2013 and the Executive Summary (English and Japanese) will be distributed in the event.

7th UN-CECAR International Conference and Workshop on Leadership in Sustainability Announcement

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Annual Conference of the University Network for Climate and Ecosystems Change and Adaptation Research (UN-CECAR), on 16 June 2013 in Beijing, China. It will focus on Leadership in Sustainability, and is jointly organized by United Nations University Institute for Sustainability and Peace (UNU-ISP), Chinese Academy of Forestry and Tsinghua University. In conjunction to the Conference, UN-CECAR will be hosting its 7th Strategic Planning Workshop on 17-19 June 2013 in Hubei, China.

Global Change and Sustainability Intensive Course Autumn 2013

United Nations University`s (UNU) Institute for Sustainability and Peace announces their Autumn 2013 UNU Intensive Core Courses (UNU-IC) at UNU Centre in Tokyo, Japan. The courses run for five weeks from 9 September to 15 October 2013. Every year the UNU organizes this program designed for postgraduates who wish to pursue careers in international fields in public-service or private organizations, including the United Nations, multinational corporations and non-governmental organizations as well as national foreign service organizations.

Building Resilience to Climate Change Courses Autumn 2013

UNU’s Institute for Sustainability and Peace is pleased to announce postgraduate level courses on ‘Building Resilience to Climate Change (BRCC)’. The courses run for four weeks in Tokyo from 15 October to 8 November 2013 and cover a range of issues on sustainability and adaptation to climate and ecosystems change. Topics include climate and atmospheric science, impacts assessment, climate and society, ecosystems resilience, risk and uncertainty, integrated solutions for mitigation and adaptation, mainstreaming adaptation into development planning and community-based adaptation.

UN-CECAR Instructors Broadcast Courses On-line

UN-CECAR Instructors for the first time will broadcast three sessions on-line from their involvement in the UNU-ISP Intensive Core (IC) Courses from 18th September to 20th September.
